Wine Reviews

Chianti Classico [is] one of the best regions in the world for transparent wines that capture the essence of site and vintage as expressed by Sangiovese, all at prices the average consumer can still afford.

Chianti Classico Riserva 2017 “Guardingo di Passignano”

91 Points - Antonio Galloni, 2020 - “The 2017 Chianti Classico Riserva Guardingo di Passignano is a powerhouse. A burst of sweet dark cherry, chocolate, spice, leather and a touch of new oak give the 2017 notable depth and concentration. I would give it a year or two in bottle, but I imagine it will always remain a powerhouse.

Chianti Classico Riserva 2015 “Guardingo di Passignano”

90 Points - Silver Medal - Decanter World Wine Awards

92 Points - Antonio Galloni, 2019 - “[…] a gorgeous wine that captures the personality of this warm, radiant vintage beautifully while retaining a classic, mid-weight sense of structure. Sweet red Sangiovese fruit, mint, white pepper and crushed flowers add nuance to a soft, open-knit Riserva that can be enjoyed with minimal cellaring. The 2015 is perhaps not super complex, but it is super delicious and very easy to like.”

Chianti Classico 2019 “Mezzuola”

91 Points - Antonio Galloni, 2021 - “The 2019 Chianti Classico Mezzuola is dense, voluptious and fleshy, all of which makes this hugely appealing to drink now and over the next 10-15 years. Succulent dark cherry, plum, chocolate, spice and new leather are pushed forward, framed by ripe, silky tannins that add to its considerable immediacy. This is an especially fruity style.”

Chianti Classico 2018 “Mezzuola”

92 Points - Antonio Galloni, 2020 - “The 2018 Chianti Classico Mezzuola is a gorgeous, mid-weight wine. Freshly cut flowers, sweet red berry fruit, tobacco, orange peel and spice are nicely pushed forward in this translucent, mid-weight Chianti Classico that delivers so much Sangiovese character.”

Chianti Classico 2015 “Mezzuola”

Tasted September 2019 - Michael Godell - “The 2015 Chianti Classico Mezzuola is likewise a modern take on Chianti Classico - label appearances notwithstanding […] Here, second and third passage tonneaux allow the marl and limestone of Montefioralle vineyards to speak a bit clearer and to breathe a breath of 500m fresh air […] for a lush take on Annata”.

Vigneto San Cresci 2017

93 Points - Antonio Galloni, 2021 - “The 2017 [] Vigneto San Cresci is laced with a whole range of floral and savory top notes that lend intrigue. Rose petal, mocha, sage, mint, cedar and leather all flesh out with a bit of time in the glass. Aromatically expressive, but reticent on the palate the 2017 needs a few years in bottle to be at its most giving. It certainly is both intriguing and distinctive.”
